Steady Steps.Strong You.

Welcome!

Starting counselling can feel overwhelming, especially when life already feels heavy. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and accepted without judgment. Whether you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Counselling is not about having all the answers — it’s about having a safe place to explore what you’re carrying, build on your strengths, and move toward the life you want.

Taking the first step can be the hardest part, and I’m honoured to walk alongside you in the process.

My name is Kristen Hutchinson and I was born and raised in Victoria, BC. I began my career working with children as an Early Childhood Education where I developed a strong foundation in supporting emotional growth and development. As my passion for this work deepened, I went on to complete a degree in Child and Youth Care, followed by a Master's degree in Counselling. I am now a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), committed to providing ethical, evidence based care and support and have spent the last 10+ years working as a Secondary School Counsellor.

Over the past decade I have had the privilege of walking alongside youth and individuals as they navigate life's challenges and transitions. My therapeutic approach is grounded primarily in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping clients build psychological flexibility, manage difficult thoughts and emotions and take meaningful steps toward what matters most. I also integrate elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to support skill-building, emotional regulation and practical coping strategies.

In addition, I have specialized training in eating disorders and neurodiversity affirming practice. I bring a neurodiversity affirming lens to my work, ensuring that each individual feels respected, understood and supported in ways that honour their unique strengths. I approach counselling with openness, compassion and without judgement. I believe that every person holds inherent resilience, and that seeking support during life's more challenging seasons is both courageous and empowering. My goal is to provide a steady, supportive space where clients feel equipped with the tools and confidence to move forward with clarity and purpose.
